Match Report
Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai — one of cricket's most iconic venues and a fortress for the Mumbai Indians. Vaibhav Suryavanshi didn't care.
Chasing 195, he smashed 89 off 42 balls, hitting 8 sixes that sailed into the Wankhede stands. The Mumbai crowd, known for their partisan support, found themselves applauding the opposition's 15-year-old opener.
His strike rate of 211.90 was devastating, and his innings was the backbone of RR's chase. They reached the target in 17.1 overs, winning comfortably. Vaibhav was severe on the Mumbai Indians pace attack, pulling short balls and driving full deliveries with equal ease.
The knock was one of 16 matches in IPL 2026 where Vaibhav scored 776 runs at a strike rate of 237.30 — numbers that earned him the Orange Cap, MVP award, and Emerging Player award.
