Match Report
The M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru is known as a batting paradise, and Vaibhav treated it as exactly that. He smashed 78 off 34 balls — 7 sixes and 5 fours — at a strike rate of 229.41.
The headline was his powerplay destruction: 62 off just 22 balls. This innings was a key contributor to his record of 521 powerplay runs in IPL 2026 — shattering David Warner's previous record of 467 (set in 2016). No other batsman in IPL history had ever breached 500 powerplay runs in a single season.
The Chinnaswamy crowd, despite supporting RCB, gave Vaibhav a standing ovation as he walked off. His ability to dominate in the first six overs was unmatched — bowlers feared him, captains ran out of options, and fielding teams were reduced to damage limitation.
